'Poorna' not a small film, it's mainstream: Rahul Bose

Darpan News Desk IANS, 01 Jul, 2016 02:32 PM
Actor-director Rahul Bose, who is all set with his second directorial venture "Poorna", says the project speaks the language of mainstream cinema.

"Poorna" is an inspiring and true story of a poor tribal girl from what is now Telangana who created history in 2014 by becoming the youngest girl in the world to scale the Mount Everest.

She was just 13 when she pitched the Indian flag at 6 a.m., followed by Sadanapalli Anand, another 17-year-old tribal student from the remote Khammam district, a couple of hours later.

Asked if it's a commercial movie, Rahul told IANS: "Absolutely, there is no question at all. This is not a small film... Its story is so main stream.

"There is no glimpse of art cinema in this film. It's a feel good film of the highest factor. It speaks the language of mainstream cinema."

Talking more about the film, Rahul said: "It's the story of a girl who is poor, who is a tribal and she is from Telangana. It a biopic of the youngest girl in history to climb Mount Everest, Poorna Malavath.

"This film takes you from her small hut in Telangana to Bhongir Fort outside Hyderabad, to Darjeeling and Sikkim, to Nepal, and then to the top of Everest."

Rahul made his directorial debut with the film "Everybody Says I'm Fine!".
