Pratyusha Banerjee's Parents Apprehensive About Tampering Of Evidence

Darpan News Desk IANS, 01 Jul, 2016 02:55 PM
Parents of TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee, who had allegedly committed suicide in her flat in Mumbai in April, today expressed apprehension that evidences might have been tampered with by her accused-boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh.

The flat, in which Ms Pratyusha had allegedly committed suicide, was sealed by Mumbai Police following the incident, but was opened two days ago by court order without informing us, said Pratyusha Banerjee's father Shankar Banerjee and mother Soma Banerjee, who were the complainants of the case.

Addressing a press conference in Jamshedpur they said crucial evidences could have been extracted from Ms Pratyusha's home, but it was opened following the court order and in presence of the accused, who might have tampered with possible evidences.

Being the complainant in the case, Mumbai Police should have informed us before opening the flat, but we came to know only after it was opened, they claimed.

"When we enquired about it, Mumbai Police said as they (the Banerjees) were not the owner of the flat, it was not necessary to intimate them when it was opened," Ms Pratyusha's parents said, claiming it was obligatory as they were the complainants.

Accusing Rahul Raj of committing a "cold blooded murder", they claimed Mr Rahul had committed the crime with the help of accomplices.

The Banerjees, who would leave for Mumbai tonight, said they would seek legal opinion.

Earlier, Mr Shankar and Ms Soma had launched a signature campaign here to garner support for a CBI probe into the death of Ms Pratyusha and also met Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu in this regard earlier this month.

Ms Pratyusha's boyfriend Rahul Raj was booked for abatement of suicide and criminal intimidation in connection with her death.
