Raj Babbar Reportedly Denies Having Resigned From UPCC Chief’s Post

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Mar, 2018 01:20 PM
  • Raj Babbar Reportedly Denies Having Resigned From UPCC Chief’s Post
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Raj Babbar has reportedly denied having resigned from the post of state party chief.

Arriving here late Wednesday, Babbar reached the Congress headquarters where he is closeted with party leaders strategising for the Rajya Sabha polls as the seven Congress MLAs have to vote for BSP candidate Bhim Rao Ambedkar to facilitate the future alliance with the BSP and SP.

Earlier, Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari had categorically denied the news of Babbar’s resignation as “false and misleading”.

“I want to make it clear in no uncertain terms that Raj Babbar is very much the UPCC president,” said Tiwari.

The news of Babbar’s resignation was doing the rounds after he told the media that under the new Congress order he was ready to take up any new assignment.

The news of Babbar offering to resign came soon after Gujarat Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki and Goa Congress president Shantaram Naik put in their papers reportedly “inspired” by Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Babbar had, however, offered to quit after the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly results but had been asked to continue by the then Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
