Renuka Shahane’s Powerful Post On The Senseless ‘Padmaavat’ Debate Makes A Lot Of Sense

  • Renuka Shahane’s Powerful Post On The Senseless ‘Padmaavat’ Debate Makes A Lot Of Sense

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has been hanging fire with Karni Sena and other right-wing organisations demanding a ban on the film and threatening violence if it comes out.

Renuka Shahane shared four photos on Facebook where a big red cross is placed on placards demanding Padmaavat ban. Instead, she wants rape, sexual molestation and female foeticide banned.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh was initially banned in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Haryana. But, much to the relief of the filmmaker and the distributors, the Supreme Court, earlier this week, allowed a country-wide release of Padmaavat on January 25.

The Supreme Court will hear appeals by the governments in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday to modify its order that allowed controversial Bollywood film Padmaavat to be released in theatres across India on January 25.
