Salman: If I stuck to my first girlfriend, I’d be a grandfather by now

  • Salman: If I stuck to my first girlfriend, I’d be a grandfather by now
Superstar Salman Khan, making his first-ever appearance at the India Today Conclave, held audiences spellbound with his straight-from-the-heart one-liners during the concluding session of the 2014 edition.

He started by saying that he wants to avoid anything controversial given that he is returning to Delhi to shoot for a fortnight soon. Answering a series of questions, Salman talked about the importance of his parents in his life, his constant quest to become a better person and the urge to give back to his fans and to society at large.

Asked about his acting skills, Salman said—in lighter vein—that he doesn’t act when facing the camera; it’s only in real life that he does. On making meaningful cinema, he quipped, “I tried making films with messages. Now I’d rather send a text!”

The session was interspersed with numerous witty exchanges between the Bollywood star and moderator Koel Purie Rinchet, executive producer of TV Today Network Limited. “If I stuck to my first girlfriend, I’d be a grandfather by now”, “Nowadays all I have is green tea because even if I smell the biryani, I gain weight”, “I love kids… but with the kid comes the mother. I don’t want the mother” were among the Salman specials of the night.

The actor also dwelt on his extensive charity work, talking about how his Being Human clothing line notched up sales of Rs 300 crore and has plans to open 40 more stores soon, and about plans to get into charity work in the education sector and through profits generated from his film production company ‘Being Filmy’.

The session ended with an auctioning of Salman’s shirt, and Salman giving hugs at Rs 10,000 each for charity besides pledges from members of the audience to donate towards sanitation projects of the World Toilet Organization.
