See the First Pics of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas as a Married Pair

IANS, 03 Dec, 2018 11:39 AM

Priyanka Chopra and her singer husband Nick Jonas have made their debut as a married couple. The two were spotted by the paparazzi at the Jodhpur airport as they left the city after their wedding and later reached Delhi on Monday evening.

The couple tied the knot in Hindu and Christian wedding ceremonies over the weekend.

The newlyweds' reception party is set to take place in the national capital on December 4. After being a part of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' lavish wedding festivities, family members and friends of the couple also landed in Delhi for their reception.

Priyanka look every bit the new bride in her turquoise saree and red chooda. She also wore some stylish sunglasses to complete the look. Nick was seen in khaki coords. Nick’s father Paul Kevin Jonas Sr, mother Denise, brother Joe, his fiance Sophie Turner, were also spotted at the airport.

Priyanka and Nick got married in a lavish, Hindu ceremony that ended in the early hours of Monday here, tying the knot twice over after a Christian “I do” wedding the night before.

Doffing their hats to their Indian and American origins, the Indian actor and the American singer exchanged wedding wows for the Christian wedding on Saturday evening at the glittering Umaid Bhavan Palace and went through a traditional ceremony Sunday evening.

Priyanka, 36, wore a red saree, while Jonas, 26, was dressed in a traditional outfit and turban, People magazine reported late Sunday. For their Christian wedding, the couple wore custom-made Ralph Lauren outfits and their wedding parties also donned the same label. The Hindu wedding took place at the Umaid Bhavan palace grounds, with the Mehrangarh Fort as the backdrop.

It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love.  Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual.. and to see what each side had put together. And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends...#grateful @nickjonas 📹/📷: @calebjordanlee @josevilla @josephradhik

Ahead of the wedding ceremonies, the couple celebrated with a puja party, followed by a Mehendi for Priyanka, where henna tattoos were applied to her feet and hands. The two families united for a show-stopping Sangeet dance-off, featuring participation from the other famed Jonas brothers, Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas.

In an Instagram Story shared on Sunday, Priyanka shared a photograph in which Nick has held her in his arms, as they are flanked by their guests dressed in cricket gear. The jerseys read Team Groom and Team Bride. An accompanying video shows Nick hitting a six.

Priyanka followed this tease with a 15-second video, and nine photographs from the sangeet ceremony for which she was dressed in an Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla sari -- quite reminiscent of her "Desi girl" look.

"It all began as a fierce song and dance competition between the families, but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the sangeet (musical evening), another pre-wedding ritual and to see what each side had put together. And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love.

"We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends. Grateful," Priyanka wrote alongside the photographs.

From the video, the celebrations look no less than a Bollywood awards night complete with a stage, elaborate light set-up and props as well as energetic performances.

It was no surprise to see the bride taking to the stage, but Nick seems to have embraced Bollywood dancing as much as he has embraced Indian traditions too as he is seen grooving excitedly to the beats. Some of the steps suggest that he danced to Priyanka's songs.

Priyanka's mother Madhu Chopra and cousin Parineeti Chopra also danced away, as did Nick's siblings and family members. His future sister-in-law and "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner is also seen dancing in a red and gold traditional Indian attire.

Business tycoon Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani joined in the celebrations, as did the host of other guests who congregated at the Umaid Bhawan Palace here to be a part of Priyanka and Nick's nuptials.

Marking their union here was the Jodhpur sky lit up with fireworks. However, Priyanka was widely trolled for it as around Diwali, she had urged people not to burst firecrackers due to the health hazards it leads to. As a result, she was called out for her "double standards".

Nevertheless, their fans were swooning over some of the tidbits they shared of the '#NickYanka' pre-wedding ceremonies.

Priyanka's cousin and actress Parineeti Chopra, who performed on stage, welcomed Nick warmly to her family and is all praise for her "jiju" (brother-in-law).

"The job of us bridesmaids was to make sure the bride was happy and comfortable at all times. But we did not have to worry about it because Nick promised to do it all his life.

"Welcome to the family Nick jiju! I am so so happy that the Jonas and Chopra family is now united," she wrote.

The couple first began talking in 2016 via Twitter, and met in person for the first time at a party for the Academy Awards in 2017.

A successful Bollywood star, Priyanka made a transition to American showbiz as the lead in crime drama "Quantico", eventually landing a role in the "Baywatch" film.

Nick and his brothers Kevin and Joe are known for having formed a pop-rock band, The Jonas Brothers, in 2005. The band split up in 2013.
