Sharad Kelkar to do cameo in 'Sher-E-Punjab...'

Darpan News Desk, 23 Feb, 2017 12:37 PM
Sharad Kelkar will be seen doing a cameo in the upcoming historical periodic drama "Sher-E-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh". The actor says the reason he said yes is because it delves into the Sikh community.

The story of Maharaja Ranjit Singh on the Life OK show will begin with the introduction of Sharad's character in the very first episode.

"I generally don't accept cameo roles and so I had initially rejected even this show. However, after hearing the narration of the sequence, I changed my mind and said yes. Reason being, this is the first time that a show is made on the Sikh community," Sharad said in a statement.

The actor, who will also play antagonist in actor Sanjay Dutt's comeback film "Bhoomi", says he is obliged to play a Sikh man's role for the viewers, who love him as an actor.

"As well as for the viewers of the Sikh community who will be proud of the show. If you ask me, despite not being from the Sikh community, it's a matter of pride for me to play the role of Banda Singh Bahadur and I am looking forward to it," he added.

Asked if he would do cameos in the future, Sharad said: "No, this was an exception."
