Snapdeal Dissociates Itself From Aamir's Comment

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Nov, 2015 12:02 PM
  • Snapdeal Dissociates Itself From Aamir's Comment
Online marketplace Snapdeal on Wednesday dissociated itself from comments made by Bollywood actor Aamir Khan on the alleged "growing intolerance" in India.

Aamir Khan is the brand ambassador of Snapdeal.

"Snapdeal is neither connected nor plays a role in comments made by Aamir Khan in his personal capacity. Snapdeal is a proud Indian company built by passionate young Indians focused on building an inclusive digital India," the company said in a statement.

"Everyday we are positively impacting thousands of small businesses and millions of consumers in India. We will continue towards our mission of creating one million successful online entrepreneurs in India," it said.

The CEO of another e-commerce company Flipkart, Sachin Bansal, said: "This is a flawed logic. Brands don't buy into brand ambassador's personal opinions. Snapdeal shouldn't face this."

The Snapdeal reaction came after many people stopped using its App following Aamir's comment.

Aamir had said earlier: "For the last six to eight months, there has been a growing despondency I would say...

"When I sit at home and talk to Kiran, for the first time she said, 'Should we move out of India?' Now that's a very disastrous and a big comment to make to me."

On Wednesday, Aamir said he and his wife love India and won't leave the country.
