Tanushree Dutta Sues Rakhi Sawant For Rs 10 Crore For Defaming Her

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Oct, 2018 07:42 PM

Tanushree Dutta has filed a Rs 10 crore defamation suit against Rakhi Sawant.

Dutta's lawyer confirmed the news to them, saying, "On behalf of Tanushree Dutta, we have filed a defamation case of Rs 10 crore on Rakhi Sawant. A criminal and civil defamation case against Rakhi Sawant for maligning my client’s character and image."

Earlier, addressing a press conference, Rakhi said she was “raped several times by Tanushree Dutta”, according to Bollywood Hungama.

“I am too embarrassed to say this but I was raped twelve years ago… I am ashamed, upset and hurting while telling this story,” she stated.

“I want to tell the world that this disgusting incident has taken place with me, not just once but several times. I am afraid to take names because I am getting threats of murder and gang-rape. I have even filed a complaint to the police,” she continued.

She added, “Tanushree was my best friend.”

Speaking about the defamation suit that was filed against her by Dutta of INR10 crore, the actor stated: “You have slapped me with INR10 crore defamation; I will revert with INR50 crore case.”

“I was silent till now. But, you made false allegations against Nana Patekar. I was silent about it and I thought I won’t say anything,” she further said.

Tanushree Dutta brought the MeToo movement to Bollywood, accusing actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment during the shooting of film Horn Ok Pleassss. Dutta had revealed that after she stepped down from the performance, Patekar's goons vandalised her car and the makers of the film did nothing during the incident.

Dutta was replaced by Rakhi Sawant for that very performance.

Sawant had recently spoken about Tanushree's claims, accusing of her being a drug addict. The now viral video shows Sawant claiming that Dutta was under influence and unconscious on the sets of the film.

Dutta has filed a police complaint against Nana Patekar for the incident.
