Want To Star Opposite Varun Dhawan: India's 'So You Think...' Winner Alisha Behura

Darpan News Desk IANS, 18 Jul, 2016 10:54 AM
Chhattisgarh-based Alisha Behura, who has won the first edition of dance reality show “So You Think You Can Dance 'Ab India ki Baari'", says she would love to venture into the acting field. She also wants to star opposite actor Varun Dhawan in a film.

The 17-year-old, who hails from Bhilai, was announced as the winner of the &TV show on Sunday.

“I am a big fan of Varun Dhawan. I want to work with him as an actress. Also if given a chance, I would love to choreograph his songs. But my aim is to do acting with him. Professionally I have never learnt acting, but have done it on stage,” Alisha told IANS.

“I have received some offers. But I might also appear on 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' or do something in the film line. Right now I am prepping up for that,” she added.

Often called 'Krump Queen', Alisha took everyone by surprise through her distinctive performances on the show, which was hosted by Bollywood's dancing diva Madhuri Dixit-Nene and choreographers Terence Lewis and Bosco Martis.

Talking about her win, Alisha said: “It was a great experience. I have been dancing since I was two and a half years old. It was a dream of mine to showcase my dancing skills to all and finally it has happened. I have taken training in various dance styles like ballroom, classical, hip-hop among others.”

As a winner, Alisha was given a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh, a Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and gift vouchers worth Rs 20,000 from YepMe.

She said the win belongs to her parents also who have supported her since childhood to learn dancing.

“My parents have always supported me. Since my childhood, they have been pushing me to go forward in dance field. To make me feel strong they asked me to take lessons in different styles,” Alisha, whose father Anjan Behura is a senior technician and mother Suprabha Behura is a housewife, said.

“I love to do power dance. When I gave my audition, I did a mix of hip-hop and Krumping. Like people haven't seen a lot of girls performing such styles. So I thought to inspire girls through my performances to look forward to such styles as well,” she added.

Through her win, Alisha also hopes to motivate women dancers from small regions.

“My win will inspire them. By judging people from my town, I feel they don't believe in taking part in reality shows as nobody inspires them. But I feel I have proved that talent is the most important thing. I hope people in my town get inspired from my win and it motivates more girls to come forward,” she said.
