  • Watch: Ranveer Singh Stars In A Heartwarming Ad For Mid-day Meal Programme
Actor Ranveer Singh, the brand ambassador of Ching's Secret, has lent support to the Akshaya Patra Foundation that provides mid-day meals to over one million government school children, as part of the NGO's "India Ke Hunger Ki Bajao".

Personally involved in all stages of the development of this initiative over the last six months, the 29-year-old will start the drive by sponsoring mid-day meals for 10,000 children for a year.

"It gives me the most amount of joy to spread love, to spread happiness. There's nothing better than to feed a child, to educate a child. I love kids! I especially feel for underprivileged kids tremendously," Ranveer said in a statement.

“I feel I can do a lot of good with the kind of money that comes my way. When I get such opportunities, that is when I consider myself successful. I am happy that I am in a position to make someone’s life better,” he added.

Shridhar Venkat, CEO, Akshaya Patra Foundation, has praised Ranveer for stepping forward for a cause.

"It's rare for a Bollywood star to support the kind of work we do and for someone as young as Ranveer, it's truly outstanding. We cherish this association and hope he can help us reach out far and wide. Having Ranveer with us feels like we have the country's youth in our fold," added Venkat.

The actor has shot a heartwarming ad for the drive where he manages to be a child among the children, clicking selfies with them, braiding the hair of a little girl, playing with them and more such wonderful moments. All the actor is asking from everyone is to shell out Rs. 750 for the underprivilged youngsters.

To participate in this drive, one can choose to contribute as little as Rs.3, the cost of one mid-day meal, to Rs.21 the cost of feeding a child for a week, or choose to pay Rs.90 and feed a child for a month.

Launching on May 27, the campaign has been initiated by Ching's Secret for Akshaya Patra Foundation. The effort is also supported by Yash Raj Films, Reliance Fresh, Choitrams, Patel Bros, Fluence, India TV, Red FM and Paytm.
