  • Dev Patel picked up Australian accent from 'MasterChef...'
Indian origin British actor Dev Patel says he used the Australian competitive cooking game show "MasterChef Australia" for picking up an Australian accent for his new film "Lion".

He plays the role of an Indian boy who is adopted by an Australian family at a young age in the film. Patel managed to nail the accent throughout the movie, earning praise from Australian presenter Carrie Bickmore as he promoted the film on the TV show "The Project", reports dailymail.co.uk.

How did he pick it up?

Patel denied using YouTube videos like other actors, and revealed his strange learning material.

"Australian MasterChef (MasterChef Australia)," he said.

"I mean, yeah - I love that show," he added.
