Former 'Bachelorette' Michael Nance Contestant Found Dead

Darpan News Desk IANS, 31 May, 2017 01:22 PM
Michael Nance, a former contestant of "The Bachelorette", was found dead. He was 31.

Nance, who appeared in Emily Maynard's season of the reality show, was found dead on Monday morning at his residence in Texas.

"At this point it is not a suspicious death and the manner will be determined by the medical examiner," said a spokesperson for the Austin Police Department Homicide Unit in Texas.

Officers were dispatched at 2.10 a.m. on May 29 in reference to an unresponsive male. Upon their arrival, officers found the unresponsive male was Nance. He was pronounced dead at 2.54 a.m.

Nance shared on The Bachelorette that he had a history of suffering from painkiller abuse, noting: “Right now, life is good, but I haven’t put as much focus on my love life because the way I was a couple years ago, no one would have wanted to be around me. I was addicted to prescription pain medicine. It all starts out fun and then somewhere along the road, it just turned into something else. It’s a vicious cycle and it ate away at me for a long time.”

Members of the Bachelor and Bachelorette worlds tweeted their heartache after learning of Nance’s death.

Maynard sent her condolences through a Twitter post. "So sad waking up to the news about Michael Nance. Such a kind heart with so much talent. Sending prayers and love to his family and friends."
