Celebrated Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling on Friday unfollowed a 'liberal' man on Twitter after he abused British Prime Minister Theresa May with cuss words.

 

Rowling launching a tirade of tweets on misogyny said, "Just unfollowed a man whom I thought was smart and funny, because he called Theresa May a whore. If you can't disagree with a woman without reaching for all those filthy old insults, screw you and your politics."

 
 

"I'm sick of 'liberal' men whose mask slips every time a woman displeases them, who reach immediately for crude and humiliating words associated with femaleness, act like old-school misogynists and then preen themselves as though they've been brave," she added.

 
 

"When you do this, Mr Liberal Cool Guy, you ally yourself, wittingly or not, with the men who send women violent pornographic images and rape threats, who try by every means possible to intimidate women out of politics and public spaces, both real and digital."

 

"'C***', 'w****' and, naturally, rape. We're too ugly to rape, or we need raping, or we need raping and killing. Every woman I know who has dared express an opinion publically has endured this kind of abuse at least once, rooted in an apparent determination to humiliate or intimidate her on the basis that she is female."

 
 

Asserting that the matter does not only concern with Theresa May but all women out there in the public sphere be it women leaders like Nicola Sturgeon, Kate Hooey, Yvette Cooper or Hillary Clinton, Rowling further said that if anyone compares a woman to her private parts or prostitutes over difference of opinion, the person should stop the pretence of being a liberal.

 
 

In the past, Rowling has been a vocal critic of U.S. President Donald Trump and was critical of May meeting him tweeting, "History's watching, Theresa." May in Thursday's snap general election, which was to strengthen her in the Parliament so as to negotiate with Brussels and pass necessary legislation over Brexit, failed to secure a majority in the Parliament.
