JLo's Morocco Performance To Be Investigated

Darpan News Desk IANS, 09 Jun, 2015 10:58 AM
  • JLo's Morocco Performance To Be Investigated
Singer Jennifer Lopez's performance at Mawazine Festival, aired on Morocco's 2M network, must be investigated, Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane has ordered.

Benkirane called the performance "serious delinquency", saying it contained "disgraceful scenes". He also labelled Lopez's on-stage antics as "sexually suggestive", insisting the broadcast violated the audiovisual laws of the country, reports bbc.com.

In a letter to the president of Morocco's High Authority of Audiovisual Communication, the prime minister said it was necessary to "take legal measures against those responsible" as the performance had "sexual overtones... which were indecent and provocative to the religious and moral values of Moroccan society".

Lopez has performed in Morocco earlier with no trouble. However, it is the first time one of her concerts has been broadcast on television.

In the event that Lopez and her promoters are prosecuted, the sentence could be up to two years in prison.
