'Lion' Significantly Talks About Child Adoption: Priyanka Bose

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Feb, 2017 04:38 PM
  • 'Lion' Significantly Talks About Child Adoption: Priyanka Bose
Actress Priyanka Bose, who plays a pivotal role in Oscar nominated film "Lion", says that the movie talks about an important social cause like child adoption and universal language of giving.

"I think it is very interesting how 'Lion' talks about child adoption significantly along with the universal language of giving. Let us face it, we are not social givers, we always give anything or help people because our religion say so…but not from within," Priyanka told IANS.

"Yes, as a nation, we are doing well, but there are lots of mouths to feed and I hope we all can find voice for them," she added

The film is based on the book "A Long Way Home" by Saroo Brierley from his real life account, the story of film "Lion" weaved around a little boy who unfortunately get separated from his real family, gets adopted by an Australian family and how he comes back to his root.

The film, which is directed by Garth Davis, also stars actor Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, Deepti Naval, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She praised Davis and said that he casts actors based on their "spirit and that is very impressionable."

"I never doubted the fact that I can manage the portrayal of the character correct because Garth had a trust on that. He is such an amazing director to work with who helped me to internalise the character, its different emotional graph, the struggle, triumph everything perfectly," she said.

"Lion" is releasing in India on February 24.
