Prince's Ex-wife Was Devastated On Losing Their Son

Darpan News Desk IANS, 08 May, 2016 12:00 PM
  • Prince's Ex-wife Was Devastated On Losing Their Son
“Hollywood Exes” star Mayte Garcia says her dream of becoming a mother was shaken when her and her former husband and late pop icon Prince's son died just a week after birth.

She says she had lost hope and was left broken. Garcia spoke about her ordeal at a "Single Mom's Awards" here on Friday.

She spoke candidly about the personal tragedy she and Prince experienced in 1996 when their newborn son - Boy Gregory - passed away just a week later, reports accesshollywood.com.

She said: “Like most women, I always dreamt of becoming a mother. It just wasn't my time yet. After that, I was broken. And I lost hope. I basically gave up my dream of becoming a mom."

More than a decade after the devastating loss, Garcia went on to co-star in VH1's "Hollywood Exes," an experience she said was one she had to consider carefully.

"For years my marriage to Prince was mine," she said, explaining that she was initially reluctant to take part in a reality show that would make her personal life public.

Garcia also shared that Prince's passing on April 21 has been an emotional ordeal she has chosen to keep private.

"As you know, Prince is no longer with us. It is extremely difficult for me, and that is why I have chosen not to discuss it," she said.

Prince and Garcia were married from 1996 to 2000.
