When Pierce Brosnan tried being Cary Grant

Darpan News Desk IANS, 31 Oct, 2014 08:50 AM
Hollywood star Pierce Brosnan has shared that he studied Cary Grant's movies very carefully to get inspiration in the initial years of his career.

The former "James Bond" actor made the revelation in an interview to Loaded magazine, reports contactmusic.com.

"The first audition I went on was for (the 1982 US TV series) 'Remington Steele', and I got the job. And I had no idea what to do. Bob Butler was the director, and he said, 'It's an old movie.' So I looked at Cary Grant movies and tried to be Cary Grant," Brosnan said.

He has since starred in movies as popular as "Mrs. Doubtfire", "Mars Attacks!' and "Mamma Mia!".

Brosnan also shared that he had to take out a second mortgage on his home's central heating to afford a shift to Los Angeles, and that led to his big break in acting.

The 61-year-old star also credited his late wife Cassandra Harris -- who died from ovarian cancer in 1991 -- for encouraging him to make the move to Los Angeles with her.

"It was my late wife, god bless her, who said we should go to America, and somehow we took out a second mortgage on the central heating, and we went to Los Angeles on a wing and a prayer," he added.
