Director: Harry Baweja

Rating: * * * 1/2

Well before going ahead with the review of this epic saga of valor pertaining to Sikh history I would like to state it right at the onset that it takes loads of chivalry and wisdom to come up with a cinematic gem like 'Chaar Sahibzaade''. Therefore I would like to offer my hearties accolades to Harry Baweja the ace cinematician for coming up with a such an inspiring cine cantata.

For all those who are not too conversant with Sikh history, I would like to briefly introduce all such individual with the premise of the movie. Plot of this epic cine saga narrates the tale of four brave martyrs, who happen to be the young sons of tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

With a voice over of ace thespian Om Puri 'Chaar Sahibzaade' narrates the inspiring tale of the four brave boys (Saahibzada Ajit Singh, Saahibzada Jujhar Singh, Saahibzada Zorawar Singh and Saahibzada Fateh Singh) who bravely take on the Mughal Empire and lay down their lives while fighting for freedom.

There is no denying the fact that while dealing with a subject, which has a huge historic and religious worth besides having the sentiments of millions of people attached to it, one need to be extra careful not only while researching and penning down the facts,  but also while executing the same.

But after seeing 'Chaar Sahibzaade' one feels compelled to praise Harry Baweja for keeping every minutest detail pertaining to this epic rhapsody perfectly intact.

Besides what makes Baweja an eligible contender for a huge bunch accolades is his attempt of trying his hands on a cine saga which definitely needed to be told, and accolades because in this generation of Indian cinema where commercial pay back has become a necessary evil for the business of movie making he showed the courage of trying something different.

Well as far as animation perfection of 'Chaar Sahibzaade' is concerned, then certainly all those who have had a rendezvous with animated cine delight of west and even a few belonging to Bollywood in the past may find 'Chaar Sahibzaade' lacking on this front.

And that's because the characters of the movie lack that perfection in flexibility and facial expressiveness of its characters which by now we have become quite use too of seeing.

But keeping in view the emotional efficacy and captivating potency of movie's premise this one of the major flaws of the movie can be conveniently thrown on the rare seat.  Besides another technical aspect which makes itself a stand out component of the movie is its background score, which shoulders the entire narration with utmost excellence.

In fact it won't be wrong to say that despite being a bit less than perfect on technological front 'Chaar Sahibzaade' conveniently manages to find its way to your heart because of its high emotional potency.

So to sum up all that could be said about this somewhat marvelous animated cine saga is that, it may lack the perfection which some of its western counterparts usually carry in them, but it has an emotional story of gallantry to tell which should not be missed at any cost.

And even if you are diehard fan of Avatar or some other animated cine gem even then you should go and watch this true story of bravery.
