Fabulist Theatre presents Dracula: A Modern Radio Play

CBC Studio 700, 700 Hamilton Street25 Oct '19 to 27 Oct '19 @ 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM

Based on the classic horror story by Bram Stoker, UK performer Adam Darts (also a former board member for Fabulist Theatre) makes his writing debut with this modern adaptation in the style of a live radio play or “audio drama”. Director Damon Bradley Jang loves the film noir genre and opted for a modern, neo-noir aesthetic for the soundscape and costumes. Casting, as is typical for Fabulist Theatre, is decidedly non-traditional for this latest incarnation of Dracula.

Investigative journalist Harker and his fiancée Mina, have uncovered a bone-chilling story which tells of night stalkers, terrible illnesses and great beasts. Dispatched by his mysterious employer on a hunt for the truth, Harker journeys deep into the rural Carpathian mountains. There, with a group of deranged vampyre hunters, Harker discovers he must thwart the source of the evil itself: Dracula.

The eclectic, internationally trained cast includes:

Steven Simpson (TWU Acting Program) as Jonathan Harker

Kathryn Robinson (Rose Bruford College - UK)as Mina

Lennora Esi (International School for Acting for Film and Theater - Germany) as billionairess DeVille

*Nemo Cartwright (TV’s iZombie, Lucifer) as Van Helsing

Ella Storey (Studio 58) as Renfield

Omer Aubin (Wyvern Players, St. Albert Dinner Theatre) as Arthur Holmwood

Alexander Zavorotny (Stella Adler Studio Of Acting - USA) as Morris Quincey

*Appearing with special permission from ACTRA/UBCP under the DOT Agreement.
