Art Talks 2019 Hacking Success the Artists Way

Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre 07 Nov '19 @ 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

About this Event: Art Vancouver along with Project Her Inc. presents the opportunity to engage with four remarkable speakers at our event, Hacking Success an Artists Way. The success of an artist, or any professional, does not occur in isolation. We offer you the opportunity to learn how to ‘hack’ success by diving into the background of the business of art, including such areas of legal care and bookkeeping.

At this diverse and distinguished speaker event, we celebrate the community surrounding the creation and enjoyment of art. Talented and successful artists are admirable for so many reasons but diving into the minds of such illustrious careers as Jan Kasparec and Marleen Vermeulen is a special opportunity.

An artist’s job is to create, but there is also the business side to art, and there are professional areas that we don’t always associate with the lifestyle of an artist. These areas definitely include affordable access to legal care, and the universal need for good bookkeeping. That is where access to such incredible organizations as Legal Shield and Controller for Hire can become essential to business success. Hacking Success an Artist’s Way is about the passion, talent, and background work it takes to become a success in the world of art.

We invite you to participate and engage with our speakers as we work to provide insight on how to ‘hack’ success in this remarkable industry.

    Speakers:

    1. Jan Kasparec A world traveler who began his art education at the age of 8, Jan Kasparec found a new home in Vancouver in 2010. Specializing in oil painting, Jan’s work currently spans the themes of urban and natural landscapes in Vancouver, unconventional Buddha and spiritual paintings, surrealism, and magical realism.

    2. Marleen Vermeulen Marleen Vermeulen, stay at home mom to world-renowned artist! Marleen had a well-studied and decorated art career prior to relocating to Canada with her family in 1994. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific West Coast she began to focus her talent towards creating very large oil paint canvases. To hear Marleen speak about her work is to listen to a true artist speak passionately, and is greatly encouraged for those who appreciate or practice art.

    3. Patricia Lapena From personal to business-related legal issues, Legal Shield is a phenomenal resource and Patricia Lapena knows firsthand what a difference this service can make. With a passion for helping people, and the community of lawyers to back it up, hearing her speak about the very real impact Legal Shield can have, it’s the legal 411 you didn’t know you needed.

    4. Agnes Nkundabagenzi Agnes Nkundabagenzi (CPA, CMA) has amassed over 20 years of experience in the accounting and consulting fields. She has committed her professional knowledge to help business owners understand their financial statements, improve profitability, and minimize business risk.
