Youth Transforming Society presents 'Volunteering and Beyond: An Evening of Opportunities'

Queen Elizabeth Secondary School19 Oct '16 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Youth Transforming Society (YTS) is a registered, student-led non-profit organization based out of Surrey, BC that aims to raise awareness for humanitarian issues and encourage community volunteerism. Founded in 2010, YTS has since raised close to $15,000 for various organizations and have helped hundreds of students get involved. For their next project, YTS has organized the 3rd Annual Volunteering and Beyond: An Evening of Opportunities.

Volunteering and Beyond is a volunteer and opportunities fair that is organized with the purpose of providing a common ground for youth and organizations to meet. This event is held to allow students to interact with organization representatives and find an organization that they would like to volunteer for. Each year there are over 400-450 students who attend Volunteering and Beyond, but this year’s event is expected to be the biggest one yet.

Volunteering and Beyond 2016 is taking place on October 19, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School (9457 136 Street Surrey, BC). This event will bring over 60 organizations under one roof, including Covenant House, Canuck Place, Ronald McDonald House, City of Surrey, YMCA, Surrey RCMP, Shaw TV, and many more. Whether someone’s interests lie in academics, athletics, the environment or elsewhere, we are confident everyone will find at least one organization (if not more) that compliments their personality. A complete list of the attending organizations is below. If you would like more information about the event or YTS, please visit www.youthtransformingsociety.org. The presenting sponsors for Volunteering and Beyond are Surrey604.com (Diamond Sponsor) and The Century Group (Gold Sponsor).

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a rapidly progressive, neuromuscular disease. It attacks the motor neurons that transmit electrical impulses from the brain to the voluntary muscles in the body. When they fail to receive messages, the muscles lose strength, atrophy and die.
