A Cappella magic with Cadence, Canada’s premier vocal group

Centre Stage at City Hall13 Mar '20 @ 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

International touring artists Cadence deliver their mandate: to explore and demonstrate that the voice has no limits. On-stage antics and audience participation are par for the course, but what these men can do with their voices needs to be heard to be believed. Cadence, Canada’s premier a cappella group, bring their power vocal performance to Centre Stage at City Hall, March 13 at 8 pm.

The group’s five critically acclaimed studio albums, Home (2018), Cool Yule (2011), Speak Easy (2010), Twenty for One (2005), and Frost Free (2000) have won or been nominated for numerous awards, including three nods from the JUNO Awards and 10 from CARA, the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards. They’ve collaborated with artists Bobby McFerrin, Quincy Jones, Gordon Lightfoot and Sarah McLachlan to name but a few.

The repertoire, both familiar and fresh, ranges from classics by Joni Mitchell, David Clayton-Thomas, and Paul Simon to contemporary hits by Feist or Justin Beiber to old bebop standards and cheeky takes on tunes of the 1980s. These arrangements —containing all the texture of a full band – are performed using just four voices.

Based in Toronto, the band comprises David Lane (baritone and bass), Ross Lynde (tenor), Lucas Marchand (tenor), and Kurt Sampson (bass and vocal percussion). They each bring years of training and performance experience to create a rich and exciting musical encounter for all ages.

Tickets are on-line now at tickets.surrey.ca or box office 604-501-5566.
