Centre Stage at Surrey City Hall28 Jan '17 @ 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM
  • Bergmann Piano Duo performs Classic
The Bergmann Piano Duo have appeared in recital and with orchestras across North America and Europe. In this performance they move from classical to the classic rock of Pink Floyd with Marcel Bergmann’s 2-piano arrangements of some of the iconic group’s most famous tunes including Money, Welcome to the Machine, and Shine on you Crazy Diamond. They also perform Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells Part 1, from the 1971 cult classic film The Exorcist.

Elizabeth and Marcel have touched and inspired audiences with their uniquely eclectic programmes for more than two decades. The international prize winners, including the Dranoff International Two Piano Competition and Provincia di Caltanisetta International Chamber Music Competition, have recorded numerous CDs for the Arktos, Koch International, Brilliant Classics, Naxos and ARS labels. They were members of the Calgary based group Land’s End Chamber Ensemble, recipients of the 2005 and 2006 Western Canadian Music Awards for Outstanding Classical Recording. The Bermann Duo’s most recent CD, American Stories on the ARS label, features Marcel’s arrangements of music by Leonard Bernstein, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Egberto Gismonti and Astor Piazzolla.

In addition to their performing careers, they enjoy teaching, act as Directors at the Langley Community Music School and serve as lecturers and jury members of International competitions. They also now the host Surrey Civic Theatre’s Classical Coffee Concert Series.
