Boca del Lupo presents Acoustic Territories

The Fishbowl on Granville Island28 Sep '18 @ 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Boca del Lupo presents Acoustic Territories with Stefan Smulovitz and Lara Abadir. Join us as we dive deeper into the creative worlds of sound designers with Acoustic Territories.

On September 28 one of Canada’s most in-demand composers, Stefan Smulovitz, along with collaborator Lara Abadir, will take us on a sonic adventure in three parts. The first section features an immersive surround sound set taking you through The Dolphin Hotel as described by Haruki Murakami in his novel Dance Dance Dance. Stefan has been taking dance classes since the age of 45 (He is almost 47 now).

In the second set we will see him in a reversal of his normal role – he will be dancing instead of accompanying. He has never experienced the effects of his own sound creations on his body. Lara Abadir, a trained dancer will take control and remix Stefan’s music to sonically guide him through his first solo dance – Dance, Dance, Dance.

Finally, the third set will see Stefan manipulating and layering Murakami’s text performed by Lara. Don’t miss this feast for your ears and eyes in the intimate setting of the Fishbowl on Granville Island. With a casual atmosphere, you will have the chance to share your experience and to celebrate acoustic artistic practice.
