Our Navratri & Diwali Festival kicks off October 16th in Vancouver, with 6 individual event days that span approximately over the course of 1 month. Our final event being the Diwali MELA on November 21st in Surrey.
Last year's events drew over 4,500 visitors with our signature Disco Dandiya event that saw over 2,000 people attending to dance for 5+ hours in the dark with laser light shows and dandiya fun!
Our Navratri events features a live band, free food, free parking, free kids activities, free dandiya rentals, free garba lessons and a chance to win prizes valued at over $2,000!
MARKETING
2,000 postcards were mailed out yesterday, 50 posters placed in high traffic areas, promotion via social media channels, logo in our e-newsletter as well as in any advertising we have planned for the event. As Navratri and Diwali are cultural and events with religious intent (and this is the largest festival of it's kind here in Vancouver), the reach goes far beyond our 3,700 membership.
Our partner network all promote the event. Partners includes the Indian Consulate office, VIBC, DiwaliFest, Ismaili community, Afghan community, Fijian community, Pakistani community, Parsi Community, Zorastrian community, and an entire network of Sikh and Hindu temples.
We are 100% volunteer driven, and 100% donation driven. Thus, our relationship with you is so instrumental in reaching the community at large.
Also note that in 2016 we are hosting the Gujarati Cultural Festival where we are expecting 10,000 people with majority of visitors attending from Western Canada and Western USA, including many of our own society members. I will email you separately regarding this as the date and requirements are extremely different.
