  • Hot Brown Honey returns to Vancouver

The Cultch is thrilled to bring Hot Brown Honey back to Vancouver after last year’s smash-hit run. Briefs Factory’s Hot Brown Honey runs March 15-30, 2019 at the York Theatre

The Honeys: Kim ‘Busty Beatz’ Bowers, Lisa Fa’alafi, Ofa Fotu, Hope ‘Hope One’ Haami, Elena Wangurra, and Crystal Stacey are back with the award-winning Hot Brown Honey—a cabaret of Hip Hop politics, dance, poetry, comedy, circus, striptease and song. This stellar posse of phenomenal women—from Aboriginal Australian, Maori, Samoan, Tongan, Indonesian and South African backgrounds—make noise as they defiantly smash stereotypes and remix the system. They will make you laugh, cry, clap and shake what your mama gave you.

Equal parts theatrical spectacular and social activism, Hot Brown Honey was the recipient of the 2016 UK’s Total Theatre Award for Innovation, and Australia’s Green Room Awards for Best Production and Best Design. It has wowed crowds at some of the world’s most prestigious venues and festivals, and it won over Vancouver audience when it headlined The Cultch’s Femme January in 2018. “The response was amazing,” says Cultch Executive Director, Heather Redfern. “We knew we had to bring it back, because everyone was talking about it, and people were just having so much fun!”
