Oakridge Centre LunarFest

Oakridge Centre07 Feb '18 to 25 Feb '18 @ 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Oakridge Centre LunarFest
Oakridge Centre, a well-established regional mall centrally located in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, announced today that their fourth annual LunarFest New Year celebration, taking place at Oakridge Centre from February 7 to February 25, 2018, will be in support of the BC SPCA.

For the duration of the festival, 100 “Year of the Dog” inspired, artist rendered figurines will be located in retailer storefronts throughout Oakridge Centre, and at the conclusion of the festival they will be available for purchase for $38.  All proceeds from the adoption of these dog-inspired sculptures will go to the BC SPCA.

Additionally during LunarFest, Oakridge Centre’s guests are invited to upload images of their dog(s) to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with #dogsofoakridge and Oakridge Centre will donate $1 to the BC SPCA for every posting.

A few of the additional Oakridge Centre LunarFest events include:

• February 7: February 25: 10 gold dogs carved by artists in various dog-like positions, will be sitting atop the Oakridge fountains located in the East Galleria. They will be surrounded by themed décor, as well as looks for the season on mannequins sporting retail merchandise. Guests are invited to experience the LunarFest festivities and to enter to win a grand prize for two to Singapore, with luxury accommodations, courtesy of Aston Martin Vancouver.

• February 12: Oakridge Centre’s guests can partake in a LunarFest-themed family craft day. In addition, guests can customize a New Year’s lantern with a blessing. All lanterns will be hung in a 50’ archway in Oakridge’s West Galleria for the duration of the festival. Lanterns and lights play a symbolic role in several Asian traditions, and many believe that claiming lights of various numbers and positions will bring good fortune for the year to come.  Guests can reserve their lantern at the Concierge desk at Oakridge.

• February 17: a traditional Lion Dance Ceremony will be taking place in Oakridge Centre’s West Galleria. Following the performance, Lions will bless individual stores at Oakridge Centre, bringing good luck and fortune for the New Year.
