  • Surrey Libraries Presents Write Here, Read Now

Connect with an award-winning writer, Surrey Poet Laureate and local authors at Surrey Libraries’ Write Here, Read Now, a day-long event for writers and readers on April 16. The event features a fiction writing workshop with author Aislinn Hunter, 15-minute blue pencil writing consultations with Surrey Poet Laureate Renée Sarojini Saklikar, and a session of Authors Among Us, an interactive panel discussion with local authors.

“Write Here, Read Now is one of Surrey Libraries' initiatives to bring together community members with a shared interest.  We provide a venue for local authors and avid readers to connect with each other and to discover resources available in our city,” says Chief Librarian, Melanie Houlden. “City Centre Library is very pleased to host this event and we are excited by this year’s line-up!”

Aislinn Hunter, KPU Reads award-winning author and instructor, will present a workshop ‘Creating a real world: 10 tips for writing great fiction’, and Surrey’s inaugural Poet Laureate, Renée Sarojini Saklikar, will offer 15-minute drop in consultations.

“This is a great opportunity for writers to get professional feedback on up to three pages of their work and to work with Renée,” says Meghan Savage, Poet Laureate Project Coordinator.  Both of these sessions will be followed by an author panel featuring Patrick Blennerhassett, Doreen Brust Johnson, and Richard Payment speaking about how they made their writing dreams into reality.
