The (Post) Mistress

BMO Theatre Centre04 Feb '16 to 28 Feb '16 @ 7:30 PM - 11:00 PM
  • The (Post) Mistress

Set in the fictional Northern Ontario town of Lovely, The (Post) Mistress is a fun and quirky one-woman cabaret-style show, peppered with original music. Marie-Louise is the town’s postal worker. She is charismatic, effervescent, and seems to know everything about everyone in Lovely - and is eager to share all the gossip with the audience. But just as we begin to think we know Marie-Louise, her own story is revealed in a surprising turn. With a script by revered playwright Tomson Highway, this uniquely Canadian musical is full of character and charm.

“The (Post) Mistress is a beautiful musical about the size of the human spirit,” says director John Cooper. “It celebrates transcendence and resilience in the human experience, and Tomson creates remarkably fresh imagery that informs and frames both the story and the music. Our two actors, Patricia Cano and Cailin Stadnyk, will play the postmistress in different performances, but each brings an immense warmth and talent to this vibrant character.”

Performance Schedule: Patricia Cano plays the postmistress in all performances except Wednesday and Saturday matinees, as well as all performances Feb 23–28, when Caitlin Stanyk performs in the role.
