PASSIONS 2018 SHOWCASES VANCOUVER’S TOP CHEFS

Performance Works on Granville Island26 Sep '18 @ 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM
What happens when twenty of Vancouver’s best chefs get together?

Vancouver chefs are passionate about creating beautiful food. They’re also passionate about ensuring that some our most vulnerable community members receive compassionate care.

These elements come together to create one amazing affair – Passions 2018, taking place September 26 at Performance Works on Granville Island. Each year, this wonderful community of chefs show their love by serving up some of their most delicious dishes at this event for Vancouver food lovers. It’s a great way locals can meet the chefs and sample their signature taste – all while contributing to the outstanding day program run by Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation. This year’s event is emceed by Global TV anchor Sophie Lui with celebrity auctioneer Fred Lee.

To celebrate fifteen years of Passions and the incredible generosity of Vancouver’s culinary community for their sacrifice of love, the twenty participating chefs have been invited to have a glass of bubbly and socialize with their peers on a yacht in Coal Harbour the week before they main event. No public. No pressure. Just fun.

“We are so grateful for the ongoing support of the local culinary community and we wanted to provide them with the opportunity to socialize and enjoy each other’s company—a rare occurrence for a group of people who spend most daylight hours in the kitchen,” said Scott Elliott, Executive Director of the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation. “Pacific Yacht Charters is a long-time supporter of the Dr. Peter Centre and they have generously donated their yacht for the evening.”

Passions has raised an invaluable $1.4 million in support of compassionate care at the Dr. Peter Centre. The money raised supports 80,000 meals served at the Centre every year. Today the Centre services more than 300 clients in the Day Health Program.

“To have such an incredible group of culinary professionals, sponsors, and volunteers dedicating their time to making this event a success year after year is a testament to Dr. Peter and his legacy,” said Nathan Fong, Passions founder and committee co-chair with Michael Barker-Fyfe.
