Over 500 guests arrived in style, welcomed by flashing cameras, media buzz, and an unmistakable sense of excitement. The red carpet came alive with vibrant energy as attendees showcased elegant fashion, paused for interviews at the live media station, and enjoyed captivating performances that set the tone for the night ahead.
Spotted at the venue were prominent political guests like British Columbia’s Pemier- David Eby, Deputy Premier and Attorney General- Niki Sharma, Consul General of India in Vancouver- Masakui Rungsung, Minister of Housing and MLA for Delta North- Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills- Jessie Sumner, Secretary of State (International Development) and MP for Surrey Centre- Randeep Sarai, Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals- Jagrup Brar, MP for Surrey-Newton- Sukh Dhaliwal, MLA for Richmond-Queensborough- Steve Kooner and the Former First South Asian Supreme Court Judge and Former Attorney General, Wally Oppal, among others.

Canadian actor and television personality Huse Madhavji returned as the Master of Ceremonies, bringing charisma and energy to the stage. Known for his work across television and film, Madhavji seamlessly guided the evening’s program, beginning with a vibrant opening performance that celebrated culture and creativity. Artists from Sunehri Arts Club delivered an electrifying showcase, captivating the audience as guests enjoyed fine wines and lively conversation.

Adding to the significance of the evening, the Honourable David Eby, Premier of British Columbia, took to the stage to address the audience. The highlight of the evening was the highly anticipated panel discussion, featuring an exceptional lineup of women leaders from diverse fields. Moderated by Robin Gill, Founder, Robin Gill Communications and Former Global News Journalist, the session was preceded by individual DARPAN Power Talks, where each speaker took the stage to share personal stories, reflections, and powerful insights.

The first DARPAN Power Talk speaker, Simi Sara, Award-Winning Journalist and Host, Mornings with Simi, reflected on her nearly three-decade journey in journalism, sharing how the ever-evolving media landscape shaped her career. From television to radio to digital platforms, she spoke candidly about navigating change, embracing uncertainty, and continuously adapting while staying grounded in her values. Her message underscored that true success lies not in resisting change, but in evolving with purpose.

Dr. Satwinder Kaur Bains, Professor Emeritus and Social Advocate, followed with a deeply moving reflection on the immigrant experience and the often-unheard stories of South Asian women. She spoke about the sacrifices of earlier generations, the weight of preserving culture and identity, and the resilience of women who quietly built strong families and communities. Emphasizing the importance of storytelling, she urged the audience to honour these histories and ensure that women’s voices remain central in shaping the future.

Diana Hayden, Miss World 1997, Philanthropist & Author, delivered a compelling Power Talk centered on living authentically and making choices without fear of judgment. Drawing from her own journey in the public eye, she spoke about navigating expectations and societal pressures, including her decision to embrace motherhood on her own terms. Her message resonated with many, reminding women that empowerment comes from staying true to oneself, regardless of external opinions.

Farkhunda Muhtaj, Afghan Canadian Footballer, Social Activist and Global Speaker, delivered a powerful and heartfelt talk on using one’s platform to uplift others. Sharing her experiences as the child of refugees and her role in helping evacuate members of Afghanistan’s youth women’s football team, she highlighted the responsibility that comes with success. Her story illustrated how leadership is not just about personal achievement, but about creating opportunities and advocating for those who need it most.

Dr. Ramneek Kaur Dosanjh, Executive VP, North America, Medical Women’s International Association, Family Physician, Founder, Health Justice Alliance, closed the Power Talks with an emotional and inspiring message on resilience. Reflecting on her personal journey through significant life challenges, she spoke about courage, healing, and the importance of purpose. Her story was a testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there is always a path forward.

Following the Power Talks, the evening transitioned into the main panel discussion, where these accomplished women engaged in a thought-provoking and meaningful dialogue.
