Volunteering and Beyond

North Surrey Secondary School21 Sep '17 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Youth Transforming Society (YTS), a student-led non-profit, aims to raise awareness for humanitarian issues and encourage community volunteerism. Founded in 2010, it has since raised close to $20,000 for various initiatives and helped hundreds of students get involved.

For its latest project, YTS has organized the 4th annual Volunteering and Beyond event. Volunteering and Beyond is a volunteer and awareness night for high school and university students in the Lower Mainland. It is hosted at various high schools every year in the month of October. YTS brings numerous organizations under one roof to allow students to interact with representatives to gain more information about the organizations and sign up for volunteer opportunities.

Last October, over 60 organizations and 400 students came out to this community involvement and awareness night, which received tremendous feedback. This year, the team has invited over 100 organizations to set up information booths and interact with local youth about potential volunteer opportunities. Several prominent community organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Canadian Cancer Society, and YMCA have already signed up.

This event has successfully connected students from the community with opportunities to grow and develop themselves as leaders through philanthropy.

Volunteering and Beyond will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at North Surrey Secondary School, located at 15945 96 Avenue in Surrey, BC. The location is accessible via public transit.
