DARPAN’s Extraordinary Achievement Awards 2021 was a successful night. Held on October 15 at Aria Banquet & Convention Centre in Surrey, this year’s celebration, presented by RBC Royal Bank, was as exciting as it was different.

BC Lions’ new owner is not an unfamiliar name, but a community icon and business leader, Amar S. Doman. Aside from managing his responsibilities as a founder and sole shareholder of The Futura Corporation, one of British Columbia’s largest privately-owned companies, Doman wears many other hats.

The sporty businessman’s relationship with basketball is not limited to just fandom. As he usually puts it, basketball is more than just a game for him, and he wants to pass on the feeling. 

“Your hard work and dedication will speak for itself but it’s also important to set the bar high for yourself and only ever compare your journey with yourself,” says Global BC Reporter/Anchor, Neetu Garcha. 

A mental health activist, community leader, pageant queen and proud Punjabi-Sikh neurodivergent woman with a disability; Rabiah Dhaliwal is the Founder and Director of the Voices For Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization which aims to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health.
