Wedding Story - Gagan & Reena

Darpan, 22 Jul, 2014

    Q: How did you meet?
A: An online introduction and the rest is history.

Q: What do you love most about one another?
A: Reena – I love Gagan’s positive outlook towards life and the love and dedication he has for family and friends.
Gagan – I love that she is sweet, caring, loving, funny and an awesome partner in life.

    Q: Share your proposal story?
A: Reena – I was surprised in the morning to see Gagan standing at my doorway holding white roses (my favourite).  I was then asked to pack for the weekend and we were off to Victoria.  In the evening we headed to the beautiful Butchart Gardens to see the Christmas lights and this is where Gagan proposed by a gorgeous fountain.

Q: Tell us about your reception?
A: Our reception was held at the Sheraton Cavalier in Calgary.  It was an amazing party and a great way to end the wedding celebrations with all of our family and friends.

Q: Describe your wedding day? What was your favourite moment?
A: Reena - Our wedding was held in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island and it was more beautiful than we could have imagined.  Our families really made the day so special for us and we were surrounded by so much love.  My favourite moment had to be during the ceremony when I first sat down and looked over at Gagan and he smiled at me and his smile calmed my nerves and put me at ease.
Gagan - The moment I saw Reena was special and she looked absolutely beautiful. But apart from that I loved when we went out for the wedding photo shoot to the train station. It was a fun shoot and we got some amazing shots with the train in the background.

    Q:Where did you honeymoon?
A: We traveled throughout Italy - Rome, Venice, Tuscany & Capri.

Q: Can you describe your outfits?
A: We both had our wedding outfits custom designed in Delhi.  When creating our look we knew that we wanted it to be unique and royal.  The royal blue sherwani and vibrant red lehnga with hints of blue really complimented each other well.
For our reception outfits we wanted them to be fun and formal and to showcase spring colours. The custom designed Tiffany’s blue lehnga with a pink dupatta set the tone for our look.  Hints of pink were carried out in Gagan’s tie and pocket square which he wore with his custom made Harry Rosen suit.

Q: What are your goals as a couple?
A: Our goal is to make our marriage even more beautiful than our wedding. We want to fill our home with love and happiness and support each other in everything that we do.

Q: What are your favourite quotes?
A: Reena - "Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud" - Maya Angelou
Gagan - "You do your own thing and you see if you survive" - Ricky Gervais.

Q: What are the strengths of your marriage?
A: Reena & Gagan - We have mutual love and respect for one another.  We value each others opinions although they may differ from time to time and we are not afraid to compromise. Marriage is a relationship which grows with time and we are looking forward to learning from one another.

Q: What advice do you have for other married couples?
A: Reena - My advice would be to focus on the big picture and not get caught up on the little things. No two minds think alike so there will always be differences. It is important to respect and learn from one another.
Gagan - Advice for the husband - Always listen to your wife.
