  • Excellence Personified: Bisman Arora of Excel Career College

"My father, Avtar Arora, has been the biggest role model in my life and my goal now is to extend his legacy by successfully offering every aspect of education and career development. In addition to Arora Immigration, which offers immigration and student recruitment services, our most recent additions to the Arora Group of Companies are Pro Recruitment Services, which offers job placement services, and Excel Career College, which provides quality and rigorous education to ensure students succeed in their chosen careers."- Bisman Arora, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pro Recruitment Services and the CEO of Excel Career College.

Fearless leader, accomplished executive, boss lady, talented powerhouse: Meet Bisman Arora, who encompasses all these descriptions and beyond, with her impactful community involvements. After having served the community as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Arora Canadian Immigration Consultancy, Arora is now ready to extend the pillars of quality-service, integrity, accountability, and commitment to her ventures as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pro Recruitment Services and the CEO of Excel Career College.

In addition to being a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), Arora holds a Bachelor in Arts, with a Major in Criminology, which she has obtained from Simon Fraser University (SFU). With proficiency in business operations, legal services, and business strategy, she has established herself solidly in the world of commerce over the years. Of course, the businesswoman's vast array of experiences have shaped the person she is today. With her family having garnered expertise in the immigration and student recruitment industry for over 25 years, she has grown up in an ambitious environment with a drive to set and achieve audacious goals.

“My father, Avtar Arora, has been the biggest role model in my life and my goal now is to extend his legacy by successfully offering every aspect of education and career development. In addition to Arora Immigration, which offers immigration and student recruitment services, our most recent additions to the Arora Group of Companies are Pro Recruitment Services, which offers job placement services, and Excel Career College, which provides quality and rigorous education to ensure students succeed in their chosen careers.”, describes Arora.

Shining the spotlight on Excel, the organization strives to provide relevant training to get students into the workforce quickly. By offering customized training with a career focus, the programs at Excel are designed so that the skills students develop in class are the transitional tools that essentially walk them into their new careers. Excel is proudly designated with the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) under the Ministry of Advanced Education and maintains representation in the BC Career College Association, including representation on the BCCCA Board, the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, and Education Quality Assurance for accepting international students. Moreover, Excel is a designated institute through the BC Student Assistance Program (Student Aid BC) and all diploma programs offered at Excel qualify for funding options.

With instructor-led classes featuring personalized support, small class sizes, and flexible class schedules, Excel is paving the way for future-oriented education. However, such successes have not come without challenges, which Excel tactfully navigates. Arora details, “As entrepreneurs, we all know the amount of hard work and planning it takes to drive success, never more so given the last two years of uncertainty with the pandemic. The biggest challenge was having to pivot to ensure we could continue to move our students through their education pathways while keeping them and our staff safe.” As Arora puts it, the team at Excel has always put students and the employers they will be working for first; without both the students and employers, Excel cannot ‘excel’.

Taking a look at current conditions, Arora comments that the job market is evidently considered a ‘candidates’ market’. Yet, even within that context, she emphasizes that there are a great number of people seeking to also shift to a new career path, and the question is whether or not candidates have the latest, most relevant skills to be a step above the competition. Excel works very closely with key industry leaders across numerous sectors including healthcare, hospitality, financial sector, education, and social work to define the specific skills they are looking for. Consequently, Excel is able to deliver integrated educational and hands-on learning to get the college’s graduates into the marketplace as leaders, with the most relevant skills needed to thrive in their chosen profession.

Moving forward, Arora’s vision with Excel is to have thousands of alumni, from around the world, who were able to achieve success in their professions through the support of the educational experience received from being a student at Excel. The passionate professional highlights, “We are also in the midst of building our flagship campus in Surrey Central, set to complete in Spring of 2023. In addition to our campus in Courtenay, our new campuses in Kelowna, Victoria, Langford, and Surrey (2023) means that we can bring graduates to more communities and job markets.” Undoubtedly, there is a great deal of optimism and interest internationally as well, in relation to coming to the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and the Okanagan for advanced education. In such an environment, Excel’s placement rate remains incredibly high for their graduates, which is a significant focus for the team.

With programs developed in direct response to the current and future job market, Excel surely takes immense pride in its community. Through research, community networking, and continuous assessment and evaluation of its programs, Excel develops robust curriculums to bridge the employment needs of students and businesses in the communities it serves. Led by the experienced, knowledgeable, and committed Bisman Arora, Excel Career College is determinedly set to soar to new heights and create engaged business and community leaders.
