Linda Hepner At Gingerbread City Competition
11 Dec, 2014
During the noon event on December 6th, Surrey’s Mayor Linda Hepner kicked off the voting for favourite gingerbread building at Concord’s Surrey Presentation Centre.
Ms. Hepner cast the first ballot and many others followed suit. In addition, Mr. Faizel Rawji, the principal of Senator Reid Elementary School also joined the launch, representing the school district and all participating schools.
The array of creativity and effort exemplified by the students in creating these gingerbread buildings were nothing short of spectacular. Each participating school was assigned a different Surrey City Centre landmark and they designed, creatively interpreted and built their own building for competition submission.
In keeping with the holiday theme, the day continued with cookie decorating with our holiday characters for all the kids to enjoy.
In person voting is now open till December 19that the presentation centre for the best gingerbread building, with an additional $2000 going to the school with the most votes. The results will be announced during a holiday musical festival on December 20th at Concord’s Surrey Presentation Centre.
