Arjun Kapoor Wants Characters With 'Shades'

Darpan News Desk IANS, 15 Feb, 2016 11:49 AM
  • Arjun Kapoor Wants Characters With 'Shades'
After essaying the role of good-for-nothing local enforcer Parma in "Ishaqzaade" and Bala, who goes against his friend for a girl in "Gunday", actor Arjun Kapoor says he hopes to get to play more characters with different shades.

"I would like to play a negative on-screen. I would love to play characters with (grey) shades. I have been very fortunate that I have already got that and I hope to get more (films) like that," Arjun, who has also played loverboy in films, told IANS here.

Talking about his filmography, Arjun, who made his acting debut with the 2012 film "Ishaqzaade", said: "If you look at my first film 'Ishaqzaade', I have lot of shades of grey on me. In 'Aurangzeb', I played both positive and negative."

"Bala from 'Gunday' had a lot of negative shades. I have (played) characters of those traits...But in today's date it has become very generic or boring to call it a villain."

The "Tevar" star feels young actors like him are willing to experiment with different roles.

"I am not somebody who is bound by (anything). I think young actors don't have that stress of imagery. We can afford to take risk. Today, doing television is as much of a risk as doing a negative role."

The 30-year-old actor, who is currently hosting the seventh season of Colors channel's show "Khatron ke Khiladi", says that it's a good time for young actors as the audience comes to see films or watch TV shows on the "merit of the work".

"With the audience, it is become simple -- if you are doing good work, they are okay. If you are not doing good work, they will change the channel or they don't watch your film. They are just coming on the merit of work that we do. So, it is a good time for young actors," he added.

Arjun will next be seen on the big screen in "Ki and Ka".
