Couldn't Care Less About Name Calling On Social Media, Says Richa Chadha

  • Couldn't Care Less About Name Calling On Social Media, Says Richa Chadha
She is as fearless about speaking her mind as she is in her choice of roles. Actress Richa Chadha says she couldn't care less about name calling or trolls on social media platforms.

Asked if she fears getting into negative light for brazenly putting across her views, Richa told IANS here: "What trouble am I going to get into? People are going to abuse me, call me names on Twitter... I couldn't care less.

"See, the thing is that the economy has been really bad. So, a lot of people don't have jobs, and then they get hired as trolls. Now because of unemployment, if your job is to be a troll, then good luck to you because it is a very short-lived profession," she added.

Richa said there is a "troll machinery" to abuse people on social media.

"It has been proven that there has been a whole troll machinery out there to abuse people and get the better of them. So, I don't really care. I think people abusing other people on the internet is like throwing stones in the air," she added.

Since Richa's entry into Hindi film industry in 2008 "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!", she has portrayed an array of roles in films like "Gangs Of Wasseypur", "Fukrey", "Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela" and "Sarbjit".

"I think anybody with any intelligence, if they have imagination, can see me in different parts, Then what happens is that they offer me those parts. I have done this series called 'Power Play', which has me playing the role of a movie star.

"Then I have done this rustic role in a film like 'Masaan'. I find it deeply satisfying when someone says, 'Will you do this part?' It really excites me," she said.

But does she feel she has made her mark as an actor?

"That I definitely do feel... I will tell you what to me is the biggest compliment. Unlike a lot of my colleagues, I can go on the road and it takes people five minutes to recognise me. That's not because I am not famous or whatever.

"It is only because my look -- the way I have changed my body language, the way I emoted in each of my characters is so different that often, I am having a conversation with people and they can't recognise me... So for me, that is a huge compliment," she said.

The 30-year-old actress says she is in a "good space and feels settled in her career".

Richa is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming film "Fukrey 2".

"'Fukrey' became a brand we didn't intend to sort of (build), but it was successful and I think they wanted to repeat the success. I do think it's bigger and better this time.. I have full confidence it will work, not because it's my film and I am attached to it.

"But logically, all the actors in the film have grown... We all have our individual fan bases, and at the same time, the film is popular," she said, adding that it's a clean film.

The "Sarbjit" actress, who was here for the fourth edition of the India Beach Fashion Week 2017, where she walked for designer Sangeeta Sharma.
