Great time for actors to do negative roles: Indraneil Sengupta

Darpan News Desk IANS, 16 Mar, 2015 11:36 AM
  • Great time for actors to do negative roles: Indraneil Sengupta
Popular TV actor Indraneil Sengupta, who has donned a negative look in the TV show "Maharakshak Devi", feels it's a great time for actors to explore the darker emotions through negative roles. He credits well written scripts for making villains look good.

"I think it is a very good time for actors to do negative roles as characters are well etched and well written. Doing a negative role now doesn't mean acting as a goon. Negative roles have become stronger," Indraneil said here.

"I agree positive roles are strong, but there are negative roles which sometimes overpower the good ones. I would prefer such roles as they allow you to explore so much," he added.

Known for his roles in shows like "Doli Saja Ke" and "Pyaar Ke Do Naam...Ek Radha Ek Shyaam", Indraneil restrained his outing on the small screen due to its stale content.

"I got bored of TV and started doing Bengali cinema. For the time being, I am bored of Bengali cinema as well. As I used to do only Bengali cinema, I ended up doing some not-so-good films and hence decided to do TV," he said.

Indraneil, who did a cameo in serial "Tumhari Paakhi" last year, is now particular about picking his projects after a lot of analysis.

"I will be choosy. For this fantasy show, I picked a weekend slot because it allows me to do other things like Bengali cinema as well," he said.

The actor will be seen as an evil demon leading other demons on his ideology in the show, which will premiere on March 14.
