I need to stay fit for long struggle ahead: Shatrughan

  • I need to stay fit for long struggle ahead: Shatrughan
Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, who underwent a bypass surgery in 2012, was recently admitted to a hospital here. He says it was a routine check-up and that he needs to stay in the pink of health.

"It was a routine check up. Nothing wrong with me at all. I had been campaigning for elections like a mad man. I needed a check-up. You'd be happy to know my blood pressure was like that of a 12-year old. I need to stay fit for the long struggle ahead.

"In fact I recommend a regular check-up for everyone above the age of 40," said Shatrughan, who was recently re-elected from Patna Sahib parliamentary constituency in Bihar.

His wife Poonam Sinha said "It was just exhaustion" and added: "Shatruji returned to Mumbai on Saturday morning after a gruelling month of electioneering. I had accompanied him all through the election campaign in Patna."

She said that when they landed here, she took him straight from the airport to the hospital for his bi-annual checkup.

"Though everything on his health-front was declared fine, Shatruji stayed back in the hospital for a day just to rest out," she said.

Poonam, known to serve sumptuous meals at home, has stopped the flow of food.

"We all have diet food because of Shatruji's health. Even guests have to eat the same health-conscious food," she said.
