Irrfan, Deepika Took Romance To New Level: Sircar

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 May, 2015 12:07 PM
  • Irrfan, Deepika Took Romance To New Level: Sircar
Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone's endearing chemistry in “Piku” took romance to a different level, says the film's director Shoojit Sircar.

"During the scripting stage, Irrfan and Deepika's romance was kept dry and subdued, but both the actors took the romance to another level," Sircar said during an interaction with film enthusiasts at a workshop held here.

When Sircar announced the lead cast of the film, the pairing of Irrfan and Deepika seemed unusual. But the film's success silenced all.

Irrfan and Deepika express their emotions through their eyes and gestures in a subtle way while playing the roles of two individuals tied down due to their responsibilities.

The director, who has also helmed powerful movies like “Vicky Donor” and “Madras Cafe”, has garnered plaudits for bringing out the reality of life and important issues like sperm donation in a very light and entertaining manner. And “Piku” is the latest addition to his success list.

In “Piku”, Sircar takes the audience on a journey with a father and his daughter played by Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika from Delhi to Kolkata.
