Though the movie was mercilessly penned by the critics but in-spite of that it managed to rake in Rs 45 Cr at its opening, which also made it one of the biggest openers of the year, and its because of this bumper opening only that "Happy New Year" registered its name in 100 Cr club withing three days of its release.

In a statement issued to media Venky Mysore, Red Chillies Entertainment CEO stated that "The entire RCE team is very proud of having been associated with a mega project like Happy New Year.
