  • Raju Hirani tight-lipped about Sanjay Dutt's biopic
There has been news that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is contemplating a biopic on his good friend and actor Sanjay Dutt, who is currently in jail. However, he is not yet ready to make any official announcement regarding the project.

A convict in the March 1993 Mumbai blasts, Sanjay, who has featured in endearing roles in Hirani's "Munna Bhai" series, is currently serving the sentence at Yerawada Jail in Pune.

On the sidelines of the 16th Mumbai Film Festival, when IANS asked Hirani about the plans of making a biopic on Sanjay, Hirani said: "I'm here for MAMI (festival organisers Mumbai Academy of Moving Image), so please let's stick to this subject."

"I personally enjoy biopics, and I like the fact that Hollywood is making biopics on unknown people. It's great. Biopics are very fascinating, but not too many of them are being made here. I certainly find them fascinating, but I feel it's too early to announce about Sanjay Dutt's biopic," he added.

According to reports, Ranbir Kapoor has been chosen to play the convicted actor on the big screen.
