Ranveer Singh Disturbed By Protests Against 'Bajirao Mastani'

Darpan News Desk IANS, 19 Dec, 2015 02:29 PM
Protests against "Bajirao Mastani" across various cities have left the film's lead actor Ranveer Singh disturbed.

"The feeling definitely gets negative because someone is protesting when you never had any such intentions. You work with your heart to entertain people and to make a good film... you work with complete hardwork and determination, and then such negativity is created. Obviously we feel bad because it is a negative issue," Ranveer said here.

Five shows of the film were cancelled in Pune on Friday after about 200 workers of Bharatiya Janata Party objected to the portrayal of Peshwa Bajirao I and the other aspects of the Peshwa era in the film.

They have claimed that the film's director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has distorted historical facts, and have pointed out discrepancies with the scenes showing Ranveer setting his hair up or dancing vigorously in public. Their contention is that Peshwa Bajirao I was so involved with his duties in the war that he didn't have time for all these activities.

Previously, a group of the Bajirao's descendants had raised issues after having identified flaws especially with the kind of dance in the songs "Malhari" and "Pinga".

The other release of Friday, "Dilwale" too witnessed protests in some parts of the country, due to Shah Rukh Khan's recent comments on "religious intolerance' in the country.
