Denzel Washington to star in 'The Equalizer 2'

Darpan News Desk IANS, 26 Sep, 2016 01:12 PM
Actor Denzel Washington is to star in "The Equalizer 2", the first sequel of his career.

The 61-year-old actor is to reprise his role as Robert McCall in a follow up to the 2014 vigilante thriller - which was based on the 1980s TV series of the same name. The shooting of the project is scheduled to start in September 2017, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The sequel has been confirmed by "The Equalizer" producer Todd Black and he is now on the hunt for the film's villain.

Speaking to Collider.com, Black said: "The script is done. We start shooting right after Labour Day, maybe right before Labour Day depending on Denzel's schedule. So 'Equalizer 2' will start shooting in September of next year, maybe earlier depending on another movie that we're shooting with Denzel before that.

"We're going to do a little bit more work and we're going to go into casting right after that for his nemesis."

Antoine Fuqua is set to return to direct the film.

Denzel can currently be seen in Fuqua's "The Magnificent Seven", which released in India on Friday. It is a remake of the 1960 movie of the same name.
