Kylie Jenner Having Montreal Birthday Party Complete With Multi-tiered Cake

The Canadian Press, 14 Aug, 2015 11:34 AM
MONTREAL — Reality star Kylie Jenner is preparing to ring in her 18th birthday once again, this time in the Montreal area — and with assistance from a pastry chef in suburban Hudson, Que. and a local club owner.

Although Jenner officially turned 18 on Monday, she'll be in Montreal on Sunday for a paid appearance at a birthday party at the Beachclub just northwest of the city in nearby Pointe-Calumet.

Quebec has a drinking age of 18; in the U.S., young Americans have to be 21 to drink alcohol.

Jessika Menard, owner of Cakes par Haute Couture, said she's creating an ornate, five-tiered concoction for Jenner, daughter of Kris Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner — formerly Bruce — and half-sister to Kim.

The birthday cake and other party treats cost about $3,000 and will feed about 150 people.

The cake is gold, silver and pink and each tier is a different flavour, including chocolate, vanilla and lemon, Menard says.

"It's Kylie Jenner so I wanted to bring something feminine to it and elegant," Menard says.

The pastry chef says she was approached by a company that does marketing and publicity for the Beachclub.

The Beachclub is advertising Jenner's birthday bash and selling tickets.

"Kylie Jenner will be the last of the Kardashian/Jenner clan to celebrate her 18th birthday. Team Productions and Beachclub’s owner Olivier Primeau stepped up to the plate to offer Kylie the opportunity to party, and drink legally, at a fantastic one-of-a-kind venue!" the website reads.

Primeau, co-owner of the Beachclub, said the cake was his idea.

"It's special, it was her birthday. I saw a picture of a big cake and thought it was a good idea," he said.

Asked about a report that Jenner will get between $100,000 and $200,000 to appear at the resort, he replied: "It's not a free visit. We invited her and we pay to have her here."

He wouldn't say how much Jenner will rake in to attend the party, but he said he expects between 5,000 and 6,000 people to show up. Tickets cost $40, but there are also VIP tickets for $150.

Jenner's birthday festivities in Los Angeles last Sunday featured a performance from rapper Fetty Wap and a gifted US$320,000 Ferrari.
