Lena Dunham Suggests Bieber's New Song Promotes Rape Culture

Darpan News Desk IANS, 01 Sep, 2015 10:20 AM
Lena Dunham is seemingly not a fan of Justin Bieber's comeback single, "What Do You Mean", suggesting that it promotes rape culture and sends mixed messages about consent.

The "Girls" creator and star appeared to take a shot at the Canadian singer via a Twitter post on Monday.

Dunham didn't explicitly mention Bieber in her tweet, but she did make a reference to some lyrics from the track, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"Let's do away with pop songs where a girl nods yes when she means no and vice versa, k?" she wrote, referring to the lines, "What do you mean?/ When you nod your head yes/ But you wanna say no/ What do you mean?"

"What Do You Mean" is the first song from Bieber's upcoming album, which is set to be released on November 13.
