  • Open Mic with Surrey’s first Poet Laureate, Renée Sarojini Saklikar
Surrey’s first Poet Laureate, Renée Sarojini Saklikar, is hosting a seasonal meet and greet and Open Mic at City Centre Library on Friday, December 9 from 6-8pm in Room 418. Participants are welcome to bring one page of their writing to read and share at an Open Mic hosted by the Surrey Poet Laureate who will read from her own work.
 
Since starting her role as Surrey’s Poet Laureate in October 2015, Renée has been working to create a legacy program of poetry-outreach that is multi-lingual and inter-cultural, in partnership with local organizations in Surrey.  She has contributed to numerous events, conferences, and workshops across Surrey, and she has held more than 50 writing consultations with community members, who are invited to attend the Open Mic on Dec 9 and read from their work.
