Rocky Mountain Flatbread is excited to announce the opening of a brand new location in South Surrey at Unit 105, 5570 152nd Street, Surrey, BC. Visit the new family friendly restaurant location featuring farm to table freshness, local ingredients and delicious pizzas, pastas and salads. Plus, it's vegan friendly, gluten wise and nut free!

An interview with owner Suzy Basra, owner of the brand new Rocky Mountain Flatbread restaurant in South Surrey.

Q: Tell us a bit about you and your family!
SB: My husband and I have been married for 20 years, and we moved to Surrey from Vancouver 7 years ago. We have two kids - Ishaan, aged 10 and Syah, aged 7 - who love great pizza and could eat pizza every night!

Q: What brought you to Rocky Mountain Flatbread?
SB: My love for local food and hospitality began when I started working at The NAAM restaurant at 16 years old. The NAAM is a 24 hour restaurant that serves local fresh vegetarian food – everything is home made. I started bussing there and worked my way up to shift manager. I loved the fast paced hospitality vibe – welcoming people, serving people .. there is always something to do.

When parenthood arrived we found and fell in love with Rocky Mountain Flatbread - it was our go to restaurant with the kids. We loved everything about it – the kid friendly atmosphere, fresh local and natural ingredients, healthy food, the welcoming environment. When you arrive you feel like you are at home.

In Surrey, we were lacking a great family restaurant that serves natural fresh organic ingredients along with gluten, vegan and nut free options. I know a family whose first dining experience with the children will be at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Surrey because we have a nut free restaurant. The kids are 6 and 8 years, and so excited for their first restaurant experience!

Q: You mentioned you love eating local and sourcing local and natural ingredients for the restaurant. From farm to table, where do the ingredients for Rocky Mountain Flatbread menus come from?
SB: We are working with many local farmers - organic free range eggs are from Rabbit Rivers Farm in Richmond, milk from Birchwood Dairy Farm in Abbotsford, organic beef from Blue Goose, flour from Anita's Organic Mill, and veggies from local farmers in the valley.

We have great local craft breweries that we are working with for our drinks menu including Four Winds Brewery in Ladner; Twin Sails in Port Moody; Steel & Oak in New Westminster - and coffee from Republica Coffee Roasters from Fort Langley.
